Chris Collins, The Black Bear – It was a warm 72 degrees on a spring day at Betty and Brown Allison South Stadium.

It had been eight years since more than Missouri state track athletes gathered to compete. Friday, April 22 marked the debut for the Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium.

The last track meet Missouri State hosted, The Bear Invitational, was in 2008 at the Robert Plaster stadium with Evangel, Missouri S&T UMKC, Lincoln University, Central Arkansas, and Iowa State in attendance.

The Bears track team hosted Austin Peay and Murray State in this past Friday.

There was an air of anxiousness in the air as most in attendance were not around for the last track meet.

It was a day where Missouri State asserted their dominance finishing with a total of 87 points landing in a comfortable 1st place over Murray State (33 points) and Austin Peay (32 points).

The Bears came out focused and dominated in their events and it showed in the results. It was a day for breaking records and personal bests.

Georgia Richardson, Melanie Rateman, and Marissa Kurtimah all took down previous MSU records with their excellent performances and with 23 Athletes setting a total of 34 personal bests, stellar performances were definitely a theme Friday.

The next time the Bears will take the track will be the Jace LaCoste Invitational
