Chris Collins, Black Bear– Missouri State Began its new regime as Dana Ford was introduced as the new Head Coach Thursday morning. Ford who is one of the most promising young coaches in nation was met with unanimous approval.
Ford served as Tennessee State’s Head Coach for the last four years. During his time there he went 52-39 and coached five players who were Ohio Valley Conference players. His teams twice earned votes in the AP top 25 poll during the 2016-2017 season.
He started his career as a Graduate assistant at Illinois State after playing his college ball there. He then went on to be an Assistant at Winthrop under Gregg Marshal and took on the same position later on at Wichita State where he helped recruit the likes of Fred Vanfleet and others. After his stop there he was hired back at Illinois State to be an Associate Head Coach. After he gained some Associate Head Coaching he was hired as the Head Coach at Tennessee State in 2014 and coached the likes of Philadelphia 76ers player Robert Covington.
“ This will be a players first program,” says Ford. “They will held accountable but they will be loved unconditionally and the greatest form of love is discipline and discipline for us is to just do the next right thing.”
